Labradorian Images
Photo by O. D. Goetze taken inside the Eskimo Village. Nancy Columbia appears in the door of the "Igloo"; her mother Esther Eneutseak stands beside it to the left and perhaps her brother Norman at far left. Nancy  would write and star in Hollywood films and Norman went on to a long teaching career. Their father was caucasian, but their childhoods were spent learning Inuit ways in Labrador. Seasoned performers in shows created and managed by the very capable Esther Eneutseak, the Labradorians demonstrated rope handing, kayaking, which cracking, and other skills - often while wearing heavy clothing. At least, Seattle's weather was cooler than that of East Coast and Midwestern fairs. The very articulate Esther took time to represent the Inuit's poise, cultural standing, and intelligent humanity.    attr to O. D. Goetze
